How to get to the Blue Mountains

Katoomba and Blackheath are in the upper Blue Mountains, about two hours by car or train from Sydney.

By Car

From Sydney CBD: Take Parramatta Road then the M4 Motorway towards Penrith/Blue Mountains. Follow the M4 past Penrith where it changes name to Great Western Highway and continue on to Katoomba or Blackheath.

From Sydney Airport: Follow Airport Drive and Marsh Street, turning right onto M5 Motorway (signposted Liverpool/Canberra). After 25km exit on to Westlink M7/M7 towards Blacktown/Newcastle. After 19km exit onto M4 Western Motorway towards Penrith. Follow the M4 past Penrith where it changes name to Great Western Highway and continue on to Katoomba or Blackheath.

From Lithgow / Central West: Katoomba and Blackheath are on the Great Western Highway which is the main route from Lithgow through to Penrith and Sydney.

By Train or Bus

Regular trains and buses service Katoomba and Blackheath from Sydney, departing from Central Station. Train is the most convenient way to travel. The journey is approximately 2 hours. Train tickets can be purchased at Central Station, and you must have one before you board the train.

Guests arriving at the Sydney airport can purchase train tickets at the airport train station. Change at Central.
